Innovative solutions for implants
Since its founding phase, meo. has focused on innovative concepts for bioresorbable magnesium implants. Through a specially developed plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) process, meo. is able to transform the surface of light metal alloys such as magnesium or titanium into a ceramic layer that can control the needs of the physiological environment or, in the case of bioresorbable magnesium implants, shorten the absorption time by the body. Other notable areas of research at meo. include the development of custom alloys for biomedical applications, such as high-strength magnesium-titanium alloys using ECAP and rotary swaging, and novel dynamic bioreactor degradation apparatuses to quantitatively measure implant degradation rates.
